Letter: Allowed to voice concerns about kids’ education

Editor,

As the father of two children, I would like to take the chance to write in support of Stina Wenzek’s letter to the South Whidbey School District. She addressed concerns of lopsided political educational instruction in a respectful manner and attempted to bring a voice to what may be an unvoiced conservative student body.

I believe the treatment Stina received from certain members of our community is unacceptable. Just because it has become standard operating procedure to shout down conservative free speech, that does not make it right.

The U.S. Constitution allows for all of us to express our concerns about things like how our children are educated. The bullying and comments that paint Stina as a white supremacist following her heartfelt concerns to the school board should give us all pause.

This is not how a healthy democracy should work.
