Wolves, Wildcats pick up league wins / Tennis

Victories have not been frequent for the Coupeville and Oak Harbor high school tennis teams this fall, but both snared conference wins Wednesday, Sept. 27.
Coupeville blitzed visiting Chimacum 7-0, while the Wildcats squeaked out four three-set wins in their 5-2 victory at Marysville Getchell.
Coupeville 7, Chimacum 0
The Wolves didn’t lose a set in their easy win over the Cowboys (0-2, 0-5).
Singles: Pedro Gamarra won 6-4, 7-6(7-5); 2, Jakobi Baumann won 6-0, 6-0; 3, Nile Lockwood won by forfeit.
Doubles: 1, Joey Lippo/William Nelson won 6-0, 6-2; 2, Nick Etzell/Mason Grove won 6-1, 6-1; 3, Drake Borden/Zach Ginnings won 6-0, 6-4; 4, Tiger Johnson/Jaschon Baumann won 6-0, 6-1.
Coupeville (1-1, 2-5) goes to Klahowya (2-0, 7-1) at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29.
Oak Harbor 5, Marysville Getchell 2
The Wildcats bounced back to win three matches in which they dropped the first set to claim the contest from the winless Chargers (0-7, 0-11).
Singles: 1, Nathanael Thompson won 3-6, 6-4, 6-1; 2, John Bird lost 6-0, 6-2; 3, Nick Krantz won 7-5, 6-7(7), 6-4; 4, Claude Thrailkill won 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
Doubles: Ryan Mene/Jhaylan Munger lost 6-4, 6-3; 2, Ridgely Briddell/Mason Rhodes won 4-6, 6-1, 4-2 (retired); 3, Edison Soliman/Ethan Wilson won 6-3, 6-0.
Oak Harbor (3-4, 4-7) hosts division-leading Snohomish (6-0, 7-3) at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28.
