The Oak Harbor High School tennis team got off to a good start in league action when it whipped visiting Marysville Getchell 6-1 Monday, Sept. 11.

The Wildcats were powered by a sweep of doubles: Trenton Cone/Jhaylan Munger won 7-6(6), 7-5; Ridgely Briddell/Sam Peek won 6-2, 6-2; and Edison Soliman/Nick Krantz won 6-3, 7-5.

Nathanael Thompson (6-7[4], 6-4, 7-6[3]); Claude Thrailkill (6-3, 3-6, 6-3); and Ryan Mene (6-0, 3-6, 6-1) all eked out three-set wins in singles.

John Bird lost 6-0, 6-3 in second singles.

Oak Harbor (1-0, 2-2) goes to Snohomish (1-0, 1-3) at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, and returns home the next dat at 3:30 p.m. to face Arlington (0-0, 2-1).
