A seventh-inning rally came up short and the Oak Harbor High School softball team fell 10-6 to Shorecrest Tuesday, March 28, at Hillcrest Elementary.

The Wildcats tallied four runs with only one out in the final inning, put two more runners on but couldn’t catch the Scots.

Both teams scored twice in the first inning. After Shorecrest plated two unearned runs, Oak Harbor evened the game with the help of a single by Cierra LeGendre and a walk to Audrey Howard.

Shorecrest (1-4, 3-5) had just one hit but took advantage of three Oak Harbor errors to score five times in the second.

The score remained 7-2 until the fifth with Shorecrest added two more runs. The Scots tallied another in the fifth.

Oak Harbor’s four-run seventh started with an Eleanor Tucker single. An out later, Taylor Wilson ripped a triple, Brooke Gilham doubled, LeGendre was hit by a pitch, then two Scot errors allowed Oak Harbor’s final two runs.

LeGendre and Tucker each finished the game with two hits.

Oak Harbor (0-4, 0-6) plays at Marysville Getchell (1-2, 2-2) at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 30.
