Battling cold, wet weather and Olympic High School, the Coupeville High School soccer team tied the Trojans 2-2 in the season opener at Silverdale Stadium Saturday, March 11.
“A real solid start to the season,” Coupeville coach Kyle Nelson said.
Now the Wolves jump right into conference play, hosting Olympic League foe Chimacum at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 14.
The Wolves began their 2017 scoring in spectacular fashion Saturday when Ethan Spark scored from distance on an assist from William Nelson.
“It was a nice shot right over the head of the keeper,” coach Nelson said.
Coupeville’s second goal came off a corner kick by William Nelson that bounced off an Olympic defender and into the net.
Coach Nelson liked the effort of his young club.
“We had a number of players play quite well, making their soccer debut for the team today — Axel Partida, Josh Robinson, Zach Ginnings, Simon Socha, Aram Leyva Elenes and Mason Testerot,” he said.
