Oak Harbor swamps MP, MG in season opener | Swim and dive

Winning all but one event, the Oak Harbor High School swim and dive team dominated its season-opening meet at Marysville-Pilchuck High School Wednesday, Sept. 14.

The Wildcats topped M-P 127-47 and Marysville Getchell 138-37.

Olivia Tungate (50 freestyle, 25.68; 100 backstroke, 1:02.31), Taliah Black (200 individual medley, 2:26:27; 100 breaststroke, 1:13.93) and Baelee Whitinger (200 free, 2:27.27; 500 free, 7:14.42) each won two events for Oak Harbor.

Tungate and Black also competed on two winning relay teams. The pair joined Jillian Pape and Maya Krantz to take the 200 medley relay (2:02.88); Black, Pape, Erica Sugatan and Naomi Garcia won the 200 free relay (1:50.86); and Tungate, Whitinger, Sugatan and Angele Dennen captured the 400 free relay (4:30.16).

Pape (100 butterfly, 1:03.09) and Sugatan (100 free, 1:01.85) added individual wins.

Oak Harbor (2-0) takes on Cascade (0-0) at Everett’s Forest Park Pool at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15.
