Coupeville High School may soon, with the help of public donations, honor its championship teams and athletes from its 116-year history with new tiles mounted in the gymnasium.

Currently, cloth banners indicate Coupeville titles dating back to 1990.

The Coupeville Booster Club agreed recently to allocate $2,500 toward the project and pay for additional tiles when the Wolves win future titles.

The initial cost, however, will range from $5,000-$5,500 and a GoFundMe page, www.gofundme.com/2bzt6x76, has been set up to cover the additional costs.

David Svien, who is spearheading the project, researched Coupeville’s sports history and determined 109 tiles are needed to cover all league and district team titles, individual state titles and top-10 team finishes in state tournaments.

The hope is that the new titles can be mounted before the start of the 2016-17 school year.
