Gray paces ‘Cats at Tomahawk Classic | Track

Oak Harbor’s Jared Gray won two events at the Tomahawk Classic track meet at Marysville-Pilchuck High School Saturday, April 30.

Gray helped the Wildcat boys place third in eight-team meet with 88.5 points. Issaquah won the boys meet with 115 points. It also took the girls title with 167 points; Oak Harbor was seventh with 57.

Gray was the only Oak Harbor athlete to collect a blue ribbon, taking the 110 hurdles (15.62) and 300 hurdles (41.12). He also placed fourth in the 100 (11.74).

Joseph Noland finished second in the discus (146-09).

The Oak Harbor girls placed second in five events.

Alana Austin was runner-up in the 200 (26.8) and ran on the second-place 4×100 relay team with Deja Bunch, Alora Caillier and Kia Cey (53).

Kaitlyn Chelberg (100 hurdles, 16.78) and Julie Jansen (discus, 100-10) were second in individual events; and Alex Smith, Carolynn Wicker, Megan Keating and Riley Grace Borden were second in the 4×800 (11:17.91).

Oak Harbor hosts the four-team North Sound Classic at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3.
