Coming off one of its poorest showings of the year, the Oak Harbor High School boys golf team put together one of its strongest, finishing fourth in the six-team Wesco North meet at Marysville’s Cedarcrest Golf Course Thursday, April 21.
Arlington won the meet with 295 strokes, Stanwood had 385, host Marysville-Pilchuck 430 and Oak Harbor 452. Marysville Getchell and Everett had only four players each and did not qualify for a team score.
“Everyone did very well today,” Oak Harbor coach David Smith said.
Caleb Brookshier recorded his lowest round of the season, 81, according to Smith, and Nick Whitley posted his best tournament round, 87.
Brookshier opened with a triple bogie and then bounced back to go three-over the remainder of the round.
Haven Brown led Oak Harbor with a 76, tying for sixth in the individual standings. Stanwood’s Quinton Borseth shot an eight-under 64 to lead the field.
Rheeno Kwak carded a 102 for Oak Harbor, and Ryan Evans had a 106.
The Wesco North schools play at Arlington’s Gleneagle Golf Course at 3 p.m. Monday, April 25.
