Oak Harbor brewery to help draft college’s curriculum

Flyers Restaurant & Brewery, with locations in Oak Harbor and Burlington, will be among the brewers helping develop a curriculum for a craft brewing academy planned by Skagit Valley College, the college said this week in a prepared release.

The 40-credit, four-month program, to be taught off Whidbey Island, will start May 3 and cost $4,500.

The program is intended to help students enter the brewing business or enlarge their knowledge of it, the college said.

It is a product of the college’s participation in the Skagit Valley Innovation Partnership Zone for value-added agriculture, announced in 2013.
