Colors of spring

Red hot pokers bloom along a fenceline off Highway 20 in Coupeville in the early morning hours on Monday. The purple bush in the background is called Ceanothus, or California Lilac. Judy Biddle of the Oak Harbor Garden Club said the evergreen bush thrives on the island and is very fragrant, which bees tend to enjoy.
