Ferry fares hit their peak on Saturday

The peak ferry season starts Saturday, May 1, and that means occasional users will pay more to ride ferries.

Washington State Ferries will implement a 25 percent surcharge applied to full fare vehicle/driver tickets. The peak season surcharge doesn’t affect passenger fares or frequent user, multi-ride fares, except on the Anacortes/San Juan routes.

The one-way, vehicle and driver fare at Clinton will climb from $7 to $8.75 and the same fare at Keystone will climb from $9.15 to $11.45.

On the Anacortes/San Juan routes passenger fares are hiked only 20 percent during the peak season, but vehicle/driver fares jump 35 percent, according to a news release from the ferry system. These routes also have day-of-the-week pricing, making travel less expensive from Sunday through Tuesday.

The peak-season ferry fares will be in effect from Saturday, May 1 through Saturday, Oct. 9.
