Oak Harbor stopped by late score / Soccer

Meadowdale scored a late goal to squeak by the Oak Harbor High School soccer team 2-1 Thursday at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.

Peyton Rhyne scored for the Wildcats in the conference match, which was interrupted by a 30-minute lightning delay.

The Mavericks scored the winner in the final five minutes.

“Both teams had multiple opportunities in the second half,” Oak Harbor coach Mike Lonborg said. “The girls played hard and didn’t give up.”

Oak Harbor (0-1, 0-2) now plays three consecutive road matches, starting at Cascade (0-0-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.
