The sun controls our climate, not mankind

Editor,

I would like to acknowledge Mr. David Powell’s fine June 7 letter,” Natural climate change info came from NASA web search.”

Mr. Powell made excellent points. I would like to add that climate science has been corrupted by political activists. This shouldn’t be a surprise; the fields of journalism, education and entertainment have been overrun by arrogant, intolerant liberals for decades. It was only a matter of time before they infiltrated science.

These activists care not about scientific method. In real science, observations are made, a hypothesis is proposed with experiments and data leading to accepting or rejecting it. Articles are published proposing a theory, and attempts to disprove it are welcome and serve to validate, refine or dismiss the original theory.

Climate activists care not about the scientific method. They came up with a theory, and published it — OMG Global Cooling! When data didn’t match their predictions, a new theory was published — OMG Global Warming!

This time with a lot of computer models predicting apocalyptic temperature increases. All their predictions failed. All of them.

The sciency thing would have been to toss out the theory and start again. But by then the green industry was in full bloom with massive government investment and political energy behind reducing emissions, lo-flush toilets, wind farms, reusable shopping bags, Captain Planet, HOV lanes, smug NPR radio hosts, ethanol, vegan rescue dogs, oil industry hatred, Chinese light bulbs, Priuses, sad polar bears, on and on.

The Democratic party was all in, Hollywood/media/education was fully committed to save the world. Thousands of careers were built on this single flawed premise, and the United Nations has also swallowed it hard.

Activists firmly believe and attack non-believers — climate infidels — as blasphemous. No mention by them of massive volcano eruptions and forest fires long before man trod the planet and earth’s atmosphere has always done just fine.

The sun controls our climate, not man and squandering billions on something that cannot be controlled by man is foolhardy.
