Phillip Harry Gagen: Oct. 2, 1945 – Jan. 29, 2017

Phillip Harry Gagen, 71, of Oak Harbor, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by friends and family on Jan. 29 at Everett Providence Hospital.

He was born Oct. 2, 1945, in Torrance, Calif., the son of Harry and the late Betty Gagen. Phillip is survived by his wife Fedelina and children Kevin, Jennifer, Debby and Masaaki.

Phillip and his wife operated a grocery and hobby retail store, Guy Hobby World &Mini Mart, located on 16th Avenue in Oak Harbor.

Phillip loved his hobbies. He often tinkered with RC cars, planes and boats and built plastic models of planes that he worked on during his service in the military.

Phillip devoted 20 years to the military, having toured in Vietnam with the Army and then as an aviation mechanic with the Navy. After meeting his wife on the Navy base in Subic Bay, Philippines, he retired to Oak Harbor. After retirement, Phillip continued his passion for aviation by working for Boeing for 14 years.

The family will be holding a service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at St. Augustine’s church at 185 N. Oak Harbor St., Oak Harbor, WA 98277. Reception to follow at the Parish Hall right after.
