Zook wins top honors at Edmonds Invitational | Wrestling

Sam Zook earned Outstanding Wrestler honors and Oak Harbor High School placed 10th out of 21 teams at the Edmonds Invitational Tournament Saturday, Dec. 5.

Sam Zook earned Outstanding Wrestler honors and Oak Harbor High School placed 10th out of 21 teams at the Edmonds Invitational Tournament Saturday, Dec. 5.

Zook defeated the top two seeds en route to winning the 285-pound class.

Dymond Piper was the only other Wildcat to place, earning fifth at 152.

Oak Harbor scored 43 team points to finish 10th; Arlington took the tournament with 203.

Zook received a bye and then won three straight matches, including defeated No. 1 seeded Ilai Wilson of Mountlake Terrace in the finals. Wilson entered the tournament ranked 10th among 3A 285-pound wrestlers.

Oak Harbor hosts Edmonds-Woodway and Glacier Peak in a double-dual meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8.
