Going to state for a fourth straight year reaped several rewards for the Coupeville girls volleyball team.
The Wolves earned four Northwest A/B All-League selections, two first-team, two second team.
Senior outside hitter Taniel Lamb was named to the first team getting 69 kills and earning a team-high 87-percent on her digs.
Senior setter Mindy Horr was also on the first team for her second straight year. Horr led the Wolves in serving, gathering 62 aces. She also led in assists with 221.
“She did a huge job,” head coach Toni Crebbin sad. “She hit two-thirds of her serves in play.”
Juniors Kirsty Croghan and Beth Mouw were named to the second team. Croghan led the team in kills with 90, while Mouw had the highest number of serve receive attempts and percentage. She successfully passed on 214-of-246 serves (87-percent) as the primary passer.
At 2-8 it was a rough season for the Coupeville football team, but they were still recognized by the Northwest A/B at the end of the season.
The Wolves’ Mike Bagby was the only member to earn a first-team selection. The junior was honored as one of the league’s top defensive backs.
“It was nice to have that first team selection,” CHS head coach Ron Bagby said. “He was a very good run-stopper and he defended the pass very well this year.”
Mike Bagby was also honored at quarterback. He was named to the second team after completing 108 passes for six touchdowns.
Junior J.J. Marti, who missed three games due to injury, was the only other Coupeville player to be given multiple awards. Marti was named second-team running back and linebacker.
He led the Wolves in rushing with 625 yards and eight touchdowns, while coming in second on the team in tackles with 64.
Senior offensive lineman Reece Cronin was named to the second team, along with junior wide receiver Bryan Sherman.
In its first ever season, the Coupeville boys soccer team was also recognized. Juniors Mike Duke (forward) and Jack Armstrong (fullback) were named to the first team.
Junior Micah Einterz was the only other player to be honored, as he was named to the second team as a midfielder.
