A pair of wins this week helped the Coupeville High School tennis team nearly double its win total for the season.
The Wolves defeated visiting Sequim 4-3 Tuesday, Oct. 10, in a non-league match, avenging a 4-3 loss at Sequim (7-8) Sept. 11.
Coupeville returned to Olympic League play Wednesday, Oct. 11, and won 5-2 at Chimacum.
The Wolves (3-2, 5-6) will try to make it three wins in three days and a three-match season sweep of Chimacum in the conference finale at Chimacum (0-4, 0-10) at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12.
Coupeville 4, Sequim 3
A sweep of the doubles, which included two comeback wins, powered Coupeville to the win over Sequim.
Singles: 1, Pedro Gamarra lost 6-2, 6-1; 2, Jakobi Baumann lost 6-3, 6-2; 3, Nile Lockwood lost 6-2, 6-0.
Doubles: 1, Joey Lippo/William Nelson won 4-6, 6-3, 10-6; 2, Mason Grove/Nick Etzell won 6-3, 6-2; 3, Zach Ginnings/Drake Borden won 6-1, 6-3; 4, Jaschon Baumann/Tiger Johnson won 3-6, 6-4, 10-3.
Coupeville 5, Chimacum 2
The Wolves recorded another doubles sweep and added a win in first singles to roll by the Cowboys.
Singles: 1, Gamarra won 6-3, 3-6, 7-3; 2, Jakobi Baumann lost 4-6, 7-5, 10-7; 3, Lockwood lost 6-3, 7-5.
