Wolves shutout Sultan / Soccer

The Coupeville High School soccer team evened its conference and season record with a 2-0 win over Sultan Friday, March 22, at Mickey Clark Field.

The Wolves, now 1-1 in the North Sound Conference and 3-3 overall, took advantage of the wind in the first half to score two goals.

Sage Downes scored on a “nice run,” according to coach Kyle Nelson, to put Coupeville on the board.

“Sultan was able to make things hard for most of the half, but conceded a penalty kick late in the half,” Nelson said.

Aram Leyva converted the PK for the Wolves.

Although the Turks (0-1, 0-5) had the wind at their backs in the second half, Coupeville was “able to shut things down and play good defense,” Nelson said.

The Wolves play at Cedar Park Christian (0-2, 0-3) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 26.
