Coupeville won two doubles contests but visiting Lakewood took the match 3-2 Monday, April 9.

The Wolves received wins from No. 1 doubles Lexi Blanchette and Amanda d’Almeida (6-1, 6-1) and No. 2 doubles Grayson Akins and Holly Craggs (6-1, 6-4).

The difference maker was third doubles where Emily Gallahar and Breanna Koym were edged 6-7(5-7), 1-0(7-5), 1-0(7-4).

Coach Ken Stange was forced to juggle his lineup with No. 1 singles player Emily Burchfield absent. Allie Hanigan moved from second singles to first, and third doubles player Julia Myers moved to third singles.

Stange said, “Allie and Julia played well, but fell a bit short. Allie played particularly well. She had some long rallies and found some success by keeping the ball in play with consistent strokes.”

Hanigan lost 6-7(7-3), 3-6; and Myers 2-6, 1-6.

The Wolves go to Granite Falls at 4 p.m. Monday, April 16.
