Coupeville’s inexperience on the floor showed Thursday evening as the Wolves lost 25-16, 25-21, 25-19 to Granite Falls in a Cascade League volleyball match.

Coach Toni Crebbin said the Wolves keep improving every time they take the floor and Granite Falls is one of the teams they can likely beat the next time they square off.

“I rack up tonight as just being our inexperience and not playing together as a team,” Crebbin said.

The Wolves played a good second game and at one time in the third game held a 7-6 lead.

“Honestly, when they put it together, we play really, really well,” Crebbin said. “When they play together, they’ve got it going great. I saw a lot of good things out there. Granite Falls is the type of team we can turn around and play with.”

Hayley Ebersole had four aces for Coupeville and Nikki Griffin had four digs.

Crebbin said the team knew going into the season it wasn’t going be an easy road because of all the young players on the roster.

“The hardest thing is knowing it’s going to be a learning curve this year,” she said. “The real challenge is going to be trying to keep everyone’s enthusiasm up.”
