The Oak Harbor High School swim and dive team put a bow on a fine regular season and celebrated Senior Night with a 127-51 win over Cascade Monday, Oct. 20, at John Vanderzicht Pool.
The meet was the final dual meet of the season and pushed the Wildcats’ record to 9-1, losing to only 4A Mount Vernon early in the season. The record was best among Wesco 3A schools, although not all schools faced each other during the regular season.
The district meet is next; finals are set for 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Snohomish Aquatic Center.
The Oak Harbor seniors, all wearing colorful socks, were honored before the meet with Cascade and then helped the Wildcats swamp the Bruins.
After a Cascade swimmer won the first individual event, the Wildcats stormed back to win the remainder.
Seniors Mollie Briddell and Lauren Vagt led the attack.
Briddell won the 100-meter freestyle (1:07.19) and 100 backstroke (1:14.38), and Vagt captured the 50 freestyle (30.91).
Briddell and Vagt teamed up with Taliah Black and Molly Vagt to win the 200 medley relay (2:13.17); Briddell, Erica Sugatan, Molly Vagt and Marissa Morris took the 400 free relay (4:40.66); and Lauren Vagt, Black, Morris and Jillian Pape won the 200 free relay (2:04.31).
