The Oak Harbor High School swim and dive team started the 2018 season by winning half of a double-dual meet at Marysville-Pilchuck High School Tuesday, Sept. 11.
The Wildcats edged Marysville Getchell 69-65 and lost to the host Tomahawks 100-59.
Caitlin Dennen was part of all three Oak Harbor firsts.
She won the 200-yard freestyle (2:23.06) and 100 breaststroke (1:24.94) and teamed with Grace Chargualaf, Megan Kunze and Lindsey Griffith to win the 400 freestyle relay (5:12.2).
The Wildcats also picked up three seconds: Kelly Gruenwald, diving, 138.15; Griffith, 500 free, 8:32.97; and the 200 free relay (Chargualaf, Dennen, Maddy Ward, Sophie Sandahl), 2:25.1.
Oak Harbor (1-1) goes to Mount Vernon (1-0) for a 2:30 p.m. meet Thursday, Sept. 13.
