After finishing in the top two in three straight tournaments, the Oak Harbor Legion baseball team suffered a rocky start in the Skagit Tournament at Mount Vernon’s Dream Field.

Oak Harbor (20-16) lost 4-1 to the Seattle Dodgers Thursday, July 10, and 10-7 in eight innings to Victoria Friday.

The Dodgers used a single and error in the third inning to score one run, a walk and two hits to get a pair in the fourth and finished with a run in the fifth on a walk and base hit.

Oak Harbor loaded the bases in the seventh on a hit batter and two walks and scored on a fielder’s choice.

The Wildcats recorded only three hits, singles by Hans Mertins, Danny Wolfe and Quentin Tungate.

Victoria had eight base runners in the first two innings and scored three runs.

Oak Harbor took the lead with a five-run third. Singles by Avery Aguirre, Kevyn Johnson and Wolfe and a double by Robert Herring fueled the inning.

Victoria tied the game with two runs without a hit in the fourth.

The Wildcats regained the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the fifth. Wolfe singled and eventually scored on an error.

A couple of hits helped Victoria even the game in the sixth.

Victoria struck for four runs in the top of the eighth with the help of three Wildcat errors.

Oak Harbor did get one run back in its half of the eighth. Tyler Snavely singled and scored on an error.

Aguirre went 2-for-3 with a double; Wolfe was 2-for-4.

Johnson, Anthony Stewart, Snavely and Herring each collected one hit.
