Wildcats post easy win over Monroe | Swimming

Powered by wins in 11 of 12 events, the Oak Harbor High School swim and dive team crushed Monroe 126-39 Monday, Sept. 22, in the home opener at John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool.

Molly Vagt (100-meter butterfly, 1:10.76; 400 freestyle, 4:54.45) led the charge by winning two individual events.

She also swam on two winning relay teams, joining Mollie Briddell, Taliah Black and Lauren Vagt to take the 200 medley relay (2:13.52) and Marissa Morris, Briddell and Lauren Vagt to win the 400 freestyle relay (4:37.82).

Morris (200 free, 2:20.66) and Black (100 breaststroke, 1:22.02) also won individual events.

Sophie Dickinson (50 free, 33.83), Mariel Empinado (200 individual medley, 2:34.75), Fionna Strong (100 free, 1:25.21) and Jillian Pape (diving, 71.2) collected the other Wildcat individual wins.

Dickinson, Pape, Sydney Dickinson and Baelee Whitinger captured the 200 free relay (2:16.64).

Oak Harbor (2-0) meets Mount Vernon (3-0) at the Skagit Valley YMCA Pool at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25.
