The Wildcat sailing team, behind five top-10 finishes in 12 races, produced a solid start to the 2015 season.

Oak Harbor finished 16th overall at the Kick Off Regatta at the Seattle Yacht Club Saturday, March 7.

“This is the Wildcats’ first time placing in the top half of the fleet in a regatta,” coach Erik Mann said. “We are excited for the rest of the season.”

The Wildcats were led by junior Max Van Dam and crew, junior Matt Hallahan, who placed second out of 34 boats in the first race of the day in the A Division.

Sophomore Austin Hauter and crew, freshman Dylan Angell, added a fifth place in the first B Division race.

The Wildcats will host the district championships at the Coupeville Wharf during Holland Happening, April 24.
