Wildcats nearly upset Snohomish, now host Arlington in critcal match / Volleyball

Unable to pull off an upset, the Oak Harbor High School volleyball team lost 3-2 to first-place and unbeaten Snohomish Tuesday, Oct. 16, on the Panthers’ court.

Snohomish (10-0) is ranked fourth in this week’s state 3A poll.

The Wildcats (8-3) host Arlington (9-2) in a crucial Wesco match at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18. The winner will have the inside track to the one of the top three spots in the conference and a favorable district tournament seed, which includes hosting an opening round match.

After the Arlington contest, Oak Harbor will have two remaining conference matches: Monday, Oct. 22, at Marysville Getchell (3-8) and Tuesday, Oct. 30, at home with Shorewood (4-6).

Snohomish held on to beat Oak Harbor 25-14, 22-25, 25-15, 21-25, 15-9.

Morgan Pease paced the Wildcats with 14 kills, nine digs, two aces and a block; Cami Bristow added 11 kills, eight digs and three aces; and Leah Quidachay collected 35 assists, 2.5 blocks and seven digs.

Payton Parks finished with four kills, four blocks and two aces; and Leielle Salinger recorded eight kills and 4.5 blocks.

Natalie Stern (16), MacKenzie Whyte (12) and Grace Raper (10) finished with double-digit kills for the Panthers, and Snohomish blitzed Oak Harbor with 20 aces.
