Wildcats lose season finale / Girls basketball

The Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team ended the season with a 52-26 loss to visiting Meadowdale Monday, Feb. 5.

The Mavericks, who led 13-7 after the first quarter, took control in the second, outscoring the Wildcats 21-9 for a 34-16 halftime lead.

Oak Harbor (1-11, 4-16) outscored Meadowdale 9-7 in the third period, but the Mavericks dominated the fourth 11-1 for the Wesco win and a berth in the district tournament.

Lilly Williams paced Meadowdale (5-7, 8-12) with a game high 23 points.

Mikhaela Cortez and Miranda Wilson each scored 7 points to lead Oak Harbor. Jasmine Ford added 6, Olivia Waite 5 and Samantha Hines 1.
