You might say it was a win-win-win-win match for the Oak Harbor High School soccer team when it defeated Everett 1-0 Tuesday, April 23, at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.

Besides being a victory, the Wildcats kept Everett (0-8-1, 0-10-2) winless, held their third-place spot in the Wesco 3A North standings and, most importantly, clinched a berth in the district playoffs with three matches left.

Oak Harbor remains in a three-team bunch jockeying for second in the North. The Wildcats (4-6-1, 5-7-1) sit between second-place Marysville Getchell (5-4-1, 5-7-1) and fourth-place Marysville-Pilchuck (3-6-1, 4-7-2).

The second-place club earns a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

Oak Harbor travels to first-place Stanwood (7-3, 8-3-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, then wraps up the regular season next week with two matches. The first is at the South’s Meadowdale (4-6, 4-8-1) Monday, and then Marysville-Pilchuck visits Wednesday.

In the win over Everett, Caley Powers, with an assist from Danny Ross, scored the match’s only goal. Keeper Kevin Silveira earned the shutout.
