With a 7-0 win over visiting Marysville-Pilchuck Monday, Oct. 13, the Oak Harbor High School tennis team is closing in on one of coach Horace Mells’ preseason goals.
Mells hoped his team would finish in the top three in the division, and Monday’s victory assured the Wildcats would finish in no worse than a tie for third with Arlington.
Oak Harbor is 5-4 (5-6 overall) in the Wesco North, one match up on Arlington with one match left.
Oak Harbor finishes the regular season at Everett (8-1, 11-2) at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 13. The Seagulls are presently tied for first with Stanwood.
Arlington (4-5, 4-9) closes out at home with Marysville Getchell (2-7, 2-11).
Oak Harbor and Arlington split during the season.

Singles: 1, Jackson Wezeman won 6-1, 6-1; 2, Carter Saar won 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-1; 3, Tom Dale won 6-2, 6-3; 4, Raymond Paraiso won 6-1, 6-0.
Doubles: 1, Kyle Martin/Jared Alano-Gray won 6-3, 7-5; 2, Alexander Smith/Jared Hunt won 6-2, 6-0; 3, Matthew Hallahan/Calib Byers won 6-2, 6-3.
Oak Harbor also won three exhibition matches: Nathan Magdalera, 8-0; Max Van Dam, 8-3; Jhon Dimaculangan/Joseph Cortez, 8-6.
