The Oak Harbor High School boys golf team started the spring with a second-place finish in a three-team match Tuesday, March 15, at the Whidbey Golf Club.

The Oak Harbor High School boys golf team started the spring with a second-place finish in a three-team match Tuesday, March 15, at the Whidbey Golf Club.

Lake Stevens won the match with 440 strokes, followed by Oak Harbor with 509 and Edmonds-Woodway with 516.

Freshman Haven Brown led the Wildcats with an 88 on the par 72 course.

Nick Whitley shot 91, Caleb Brookshier 99, Mathew Boyd 115, Joshua Margraf 123 and Rheeno Kwak 127.

Lake Stevens’ Spencer Rauv led the field with an 84.

“The whole course was muddy, so the scores were high,” Oak Harbor coach David Smith said. “We definitely have room for improvement, though.”

The Wildcats will go to the Avalon Golf Course to face host Sedro-Woolley and Stanwood at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24.
