Wildcats fall to Wesco leader / Soccer

Oak Harbor faces the Wesco’s top two teams in soccer this week.

It’s a challenging week for the Oak Harbor High School soccer team — the Wildcats, still seeking their first league win, face the Western Conference’s co-leaders.

Oak Harbor played Arlington (5-0-1, 7-2-1) tough Tuesday, Oct. 4, but lost 2-0 at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.

The other Wesco leader, Marysville Getchell (5-0-1, 8-0-1), visits at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6.

“The girls played well,” Oak Harbor coach Mike Lonborg said after the Arlington loss. “We got one starter back but lost two. So, even undermanned, we held our own (and) worked hard the entire game. Again, (there was) no give up, just not enough horses.”
