For the seventh time in 11 matches this season, an Oak High School tennis match was decided by one point when the Wildcats fell 4-3 to visiting Stanwood Thursday, Oct. 8.

It was Oak Harbor’s second 4-3 loss this week.

Coach Horace Mells mixed up his lineup and received mixed results.

He switched his No. 3 and 4 singles players, Raymond Paraiso and Calib Byers, to first doubles, and the pair won 6-3, 6-1.

Normally doubles players, Matthew Hallahan and Jae-Kyung Kwak played third and fourth singles and both lost 6-0, 6-2.

The Wildcats won first and second singles behind Jackson Wezeman (6-4, 6-2) and Rodrigo Columbo (7-5, 6-3).

Sidney Thomas/Jose Cabigting (6-0, 6-1) and Matt Molitor/Aziya Sanders (6-4, 6-4) lost in second and third doubles.

Oak Harbor (4-5, 5-6) finishes up the regular season next week with two 3:30 p.m. matches with the teams that sit at the two ends of the Wesco North standings. The Wildcats go to last-place Marysville-Pilchuck (1-7, 1-11) Monday, Oct. 12, and host first-place Everett (7-0, 9-2) Tuesday, Oct. 13.
