Wildcats collect Wesco awards

Thirty-six Oak Harbor High School athletes received Western Conference honors when the league announced the spring athletic awards this week.

Seven Wildcats were first-team selections: Donnie Kloewer (baseball, outfield), Nick Krantz (boys golf), Dorian Hardin (track, 4×100), Taeson Hardin (track, 4×100), Andrew Miller (track, 4×100), Jeff Gordon (track, 4×100) and Isaac Gomez (track, discus).

In boys track, Mac Nuanez was second team in the 400 and on the 4×400 relay team with Ozell Jackson, Will Danielson and Darian Matsushita. Jackson was also second team in the high jump and Miller in the long jump.

Taeson Hardin (100), Gordon (200) and Jackson (triple jump) were honorable mention.

Amaya Rittierodt was second team in girls track in the 100 and on the 4×100 team with Alora Caillier, Maria Dailey and Kia Ceya. Lydia Dorsey was second team in the javelin.

Honorable mention went to the 4×200 team (Leielle Salinger, Rittierodt, Caillier, Jenna Cooley), the 4×400 team (Courtney VanGiesen, Morgan Pease, Cooley and Jessica Vester), VanGiesen (400) and Cami Bristow (javelin).

Eight Oak Harbor baseball players were on the honorable mention list: Aiden McCarthy, Ethan Pace, Joe Dixon, Caleb Fitzgerald, Austin Boesch, Aaron Martinez, James Besaw and Thomas Anderson.

Miranda Wilson was a second-team selection in softball, and Rylee Joseph and Cierra LeGendre were honorable mention.

Mason Rhodes (midfielder), Jaydon Wallace (midfielder) and Ridgely Briddell (defender) were honorable mention in soccer.
