Wildcat finish 6th in tournament | Volleyball

The Oak Harbor High School volleyball team played two of the state's top teams on the way to placing sixth in the 16-team Wenatchee Invitational Tournament Saturday, Oct. 12.

The Oak Harbor High School volleyball team played two of the state’s top teams on the way to placing sixth in the 16-team Wenatchee Invitational Tournament Saturday, Oct. 12.

The Wildcats finished second in their pool, beating Cashmere and Eastmont (East Wenatchee) and losing to Bellarmine Prep.

Bellarmine is the state’s top-ranked 4A team and is ninth in one national poll. The Lions went on to win the tournament title.

Oak Harbor qualified for the championship round where it started with a loss to Chelan, the state’s second-ranked 1A school, which eventually finished second to Bellarmine in the tournament.

The Wildcats kept alive with a win over East Valley, then lost to Kamiak in the match for fifth and sixth places.

Oak Harbor (2-2, 2-7) meets league leader and 10th-ranked Meadowdale (4-0, 7-2) on the road at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15.
