Whidbey athletes win state titles / Trampoline and tumbling

Four Whidbey Island members of the Ground Zero Trampoline and Tumbling team joined efforts to claim two firsts and five seconds at the state championships in Maple Valley Saturday, April 8.

Heidi Mullins, competing in the 8 and under division, paced the local athletes by taking first in Level 3 trampoline and second in Level 4 double mini and Level 5 tumbling. She was named Squid of the Meet for being the most improved athlete.

Kaia Crebbin, 13-14, took home gold in Level 6 tumbling and added a third place in Level 6 trampoline and an eighth in Level 6 double mini.

Allison Lovett, 11-12, captured a pair of second place medals (Level 4 tumbling and Level 6 double mini), as well as earning fourth in Level 6 trampoline.

Lainey Samek, 11-12, placed in three events: second in Level 5 double mini, fourth in Level 3 trampoline and ninth in Level 5 tumbling.

Ground Zero, which is based out of Mount Vernon, completes its season at the regional tournament in Las Vegas May 12-14.
