Oak Harbor senior Shantae Young leaped a season best 38-06.75 in the triple jump to finish third in the state 4A track meet at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma Thursday, May 27.
Teammate senior Nicole Mowbray placed 11th at 36-02.
Bianca Walton of Tahoma won with an effort of 39-05.25; Tess Parent of Inglemoor was second in 38-10.
The triple jump was the only final Thursday to included Oak Harbor athletes.
Young will participate in the long jump finals this afternoon, Friday, May 28. Also today, freshman Naomi Walker will run in the preliminaries of the 100, 200, and 4×100 relay with Young, Christina Alexander and Janessa Ramos. The boys 4×100 relay team of Donovan Hunt, Jason Curles, Aaron Boesch and Josiah Miller will also run in the prelims.
The finals for those events will be Saturday along with the girls high jump in which Mowbray will compete.
