Track: Oak Harbor to send 5 individuals, 3 relay teams to state

Five individuals and three relay teams will represent Oak Harbor at the state 3A track meet at Mount Tahoma High School May 26 to 28.

Five individuals and three relay teams will represent Oak Harbor at the state 3A track meet at Mount Tahoma High School May 26 to 28.

The Wildcats qualified by placing among the top three at the Northwest District meet at Shoreline Stadium May 18 and 20.

The Oak Harbor girls finished fourth overall in the 11-team district with 96 points; Shorewood won with 118.

The Wildcat boys placed fifth with 60 points; Everett won with 114.5.

Josiah Miller led the Oak Harbor showing at district by qualifying for state in four events.

He joined Carlton Johnson, Chris Opdyke and Connor Meyer to win the 4×400 relay (3:28.89); placed second in the 100 (11.16) and 200 (22.56); and third in the triple jump (41-05.25).

On the girls side, Oak Harbor earned titles from Janessa Ramos in the long jump (16-05.75) and Alison Duvenez in the 300 hurdles (46.32).

Adrianna Royal was second in the 1,600 (5:15.48) and third in the 800 (2:19.42).

Janelle Yoshimoto placed third in the javelin (104-10).

The Wildcat girls will also send two relay teams to state.

Oak Harbor placed second in the 4×200 with Sarah Young, Christina Alexander, Jalani Bobo and Ramos running 1:47.08.

Alexander, Duvenez, Maura McKole and Christina Wicker ran to third in the 4×400 (4:04.47).

Miller will enter state with the eighth-best 3A 100 time of 10.96. Duvenez is ranked seventh in the 300 hurdles at 46.32.
