Track: Local athletes rank among state’s best

Coupeville’s Tyler King has the state’s top 1A times in the 1,600 meters (4:28.54) and 3,200 (9:51.75). He is third in the 800 (2:02.65), and is sixth in the 4×400 relay (3:43.69) with Chase Bates, Mitch Pelroy and Dylan Warren.

In the shot put, Kyra Ilyankoff is ninth among the girls (32-3) and Hunter Hammer 10th for the boys’ (44-8.25).

For Oak Harbor, Shantae Young leads the 4A girls in the long jump (18), is third in the triple jump (37-0.5), eighth in the 100 meters (12.74) and third in the 4×100 relay (50.19) with Janessa Ramos, Christina Alexander and Naomi Walker.

Adrianna Royal is fourth in the 800 (2:22.58), and Walker is fifth in the 200 (26.12).

The Oak Harbor track team takes part in its third meet of the season Thursday, April 8, at Mariner High School.

Coupeville’s next meet is at Cedarcrest Thursday, April 15.
