Track: Coupeville drops meet to South Whidbey

South Whidbey edged the visiting Coupeville boys track team 59-56 and defeated the girls 71-46 Thursday, May 5.

Three different Coupeville boys were multiple event winners.

Tyler King grabbed three firsts (800, 2:12.62; 1,600, 5:02.21; 3,200, 10:43.34) and a second (400, 53.42).

Mitch Pelroy took the 200 (24.3) and 400 (53.24) and was second in the 100 (11.2).

Hunter Hammer threw to wins in the discus (131-07) and shot put (45-05.5).

The boys also earned a first from Dylan Ritchie (110 hurdles, 19.76).

Jai’Lysa Hoskins topped the girls with wins in the 100 (13.2) and 200 (27.89) and on two relay teams. Hoskins, Nicole Becker, Madison Tisa-McPhee and Grace LaPoint won the 4×200 (1:54.8); and Hoskins, Cassidi Rosenkrance, Anna Bailey and LaPoint took the 4×400 (4:31.24).

Other wins came from Megan Oakes (3,200, 15:29.44) and Tisa-McPhee (100 hurdles, 16.75).

The Wolves compete in the Cascade Conference championship meet Wednesday and Friday, May 11 and 13, at Cedarcrest at 3:30 p.m.

Third (boys): Edwards, 200, 28.29; Larry Hurlburt, 800, 2:28.63; Sam Landau, 1,600, 5:15.92; Nell, long jump, 13-11.25.
