Coupeville placed fifth out of 19 teams at the tri-district track meet last week at King’s in Shoreline and qualified two individuals and a relay team for the state meet.
Tyler King dominated the distance races, winning the 800 (1:55.91), 1,600 (4:15.98) and 3,200 (9:43.51). He also joined Chase Bates, Will Hoskins and Mitch Pelroy to finish third in the 4×400 relay (3:32.2).
Hunter Hammer earned the other state spot by placing second in the shot put (48-03).
King’s won the boys meet with 118.33 points; Coupeville compiled 44.
No Coupeville girls placed in the meet.
The state 1A meet is Thursday through Saturday, May 27-29, at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.
King enters the meet with the state’s fastest 1A times in the 800 (1:55.34), 1,600 (4:15.28) and 3,200 (9:20.52).
