Marysville-Pilchuck outscored the visiting Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team 40-13 in the middle quarters on the way to a 59-27 win Tuesday, Feb. 4.

The Tomahawks led only 9-6 after the first quarter, then blitzed the Wildcats 22-5 in the second period to pull away.

The Wildcats shot only 18 percent (3 for 17) and committed 14 turnovers in the opening half. M-P, on the other hand, shot 40 percent (12 for 30) and made only two mistakes.

Charlee Pilon and Jenika Anglim led the Tomahawks with nine points in the first half.

Oak Harbor’s shooting warmed up slightly in the second half, and the Wildcats finished at 21 percent (7 for 33). The turnovers, however, didn’t improve and ended at 29.

M-P shot 37 percent (20 for 54) for the game and committed just six turnovers.

Anglim finished with 14 points to lead 10 different Marysville-Pilchuck players who scored.

Joanna Leete topped Oak Harbor with 14 points and five rebounds.

Jinai Guzman scored five points, Julie Jansen four, Rahsanna Graham two, Liz Lym one and Brook Peplinski one.

Oak Harbor (0-12, 0-19) will get its final chance to pick up a win when it closes out the season at home at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, against Marysville Getchell (1-11, 4-15).
