Tennis: Seagulls fly by Oak Harbor

The visiting Wildcats struggled to win games as the Everett upped its season mark to 3-1; Oak Harbor is 1-3.

In singles play, No. 1 Ben Cardinal dropped his match 6-1, 6-0; No. 2 David DeGuzman fell 6-0, 6-0; No. 3 Geoff Worley lost 6-1, 6-1; and No. 4 Marvyn Sioson was defeated 6-1, 6-0.

In first doubles, Eric Berner and Michael Serna lost 6-0, 6-1. Ben Harrison and Will Southard dropped the No. 2 match 6-1, 6-1. Maric Sobreo and Harrison Miller were beaten 6-1, 6-0 in third doubles.

The match was a makeup contest after a rainout Sept. 15.

Oak Harbor continues on the road the next four days as it waits for its new courts to be completed. Monday, Sept. 20, the Wildcats are at Meadowdale; Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Lynnwood; Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Marysville-Pilchuck; and Thursday, Sept. 23, at Glacier Peak. All the matches begin at 3:45 p.m.

The target date for the completion of the new OHHS courts is Wednesday, Sept. 29, when Oak Harbor faces Mountlake Terrace.
