By sweeping all four singles matches, the Oak Harbor boys tennis team slipped by visiting Shorewood 4-3 Monday, Oct. 4.
Earlier this year, the Thunderbirds defeated Oak Harbor 7-0. Wildcat coach Horace Mells said Shorewood (7-3, 7-4) shifted its lineup to prepare for the post season, and the new arrangement resulted in the Oak Harbor win.
Ben Cardinal won won first singles 6-4, 7-5; and Josh Evans took second singles 6-2, 6-1.
Brandon Vagt grabbed third singles 6-3, 6-2; while David DeGuzman won fourth singles 6-4, 7-6(1).
The Oak Harbor doubles teams of Max O’Dell/Geoff Worley (6-2, 6-0), Eric Berner/Michael Serna (6-1, 6-2) and Ben Harrison/Will Southard (6-0, 6-1) each lost.
The Wildcats (3-7, 3-8) take on Everett (6-3, 7-4) Wednesday, Oct. 6, on the OHHS courts at 3:45 p.m.
