Tennis: Oak Harbor falls to first-place Scots

Shorecrest remained undefeated in Wesco 3A girls tennis by defeating Oak Harbor 5-2 Tuesday, April 5, on the Wildcats’ courts.

The Scots swept the doubles matches and split the four singles contests to up their league record to 4-0 and 5-1 overall. Oak Harbor fell to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in Wesco play.

Clarissa Abadesco and Alexa Holmly picked up Oak Harbor’s wins. Abadesco cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win in second singles, and Holmly pulled out a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win in fourth singles.

Cady O’Dell (first singles, 4-6, 3-6) and Shannon Neilon (third, 0-6, 4-6) fell in other singles action.

All three Wildcat doubles duo lost: Shoko Yamaguchi/Jennifer Bowers, 4-6, 2-6; Cassandra Gianino/Jordan Faralan, 7-5, 1-6, 4-6; and Molly Van Dam/Jennifer Fremd, 5-7, 6-1, 1-6.

The Wildcats go to Shorewood (3-3, 3-1) Thursday, April 7, at 3:30 p.m.; their next home match is Thursday, April 14, with Mountlake Terrace (0-6, 0-4) at 3:30 p.m.
