Tennis: Castano ties for ninth in state tennis

Coupeville’s Julia Sierra Castano finished tied for ninth in the state 1B/2B/1A singles tennis tournament in Yakima.

Coupeville’s Julia Sierra Castano finished tied for ninth in the state 1B/2B/1A tennis tournament in Yakima.

Castano dropped her first-round match Friday, May 28, to Tenino’s Kirsten Jorgensen 6-4, 6-3.

In the second round Friday, Castano defeated Italia Mengarelli of Granger 6-3, 6-1.

Saturday, May 29, Castano was eliminated by Sowmya Mangipudi of St.George 6-4, 6-3.
