The Oak Harbor High School swim team topped host Lake Stevens 95-75 Thursday to set up a winner-take-all title match with Marysville-Pilchuck Friday, Jan. 29.
By defeated the Vikings, Oak Harbor raised its league record to 6-0 and season mark to 11-0. The Wildcats host Mount Vernon Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 6 p.m. in a nonleague match, then travel to Kamiak High School Jan. 29 at 2:30 p.m. to face the Knights and Marysville-Pilchuck in a double-dual meet to finish up the regular season.
The meet will feature the best teams from the Wesco North and Wesco South and determine the North regular season dual-meet title. Wildcat North foe Marysville-Pilchuck is 6-0 in conference meets and 10-0 overall. Kamiak, from the South, is 6-0 and 11-0.
The Tomahawks were the only team to defeat Oak Harbor last winter in dual action.
In the win over Lake Stevens, Josh Jepsen led the way for the Wildcats with two individual wins and a relay victory. He captured the 200 free (1:55.57) and 100 free (53.56).
Jepsen also teamed with Hu, Schell and Kaltenbach to take the 400 free relay (3:41.87).
Hu won the 200 individual medley in a state-qualifying time of 2:04.21.
Weinstein swam to first in the 500 free (5:29.63), and Jacob Jepsen took the 100 backstroke (59.86).
Yale Rosen grabbed Oak Harbor’s other win with a 1:07.78 in the 100 breaststroke.
