The long holiday break did nothing to diminish the Oak Harbor High School swim team’s intensity, and the Wildcats started 2008 off on the right foot beating Stanwood 131-61 in a Thursday league meet at John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool.
The victory keeps Oak Harbor undefeated at 2-0 in WesCo North meets this season and 6-2 overall.
The Wildcats put together a dominating performance winning every race with the exception of the 100 freestyle and the 400 freestyle.
John Hu had a good meet for the Wildcats winning the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:04.39, and swimming the leadoff leg on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.
“I’m a little bit out of shape and a little heavy after eating all those goodies during the Christmas break, but I thought I swam pretty good today,” Hu said.
Price Hu won the 200 individual medley at 2:27.67, and was also on the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams, and Yale Rosen won the 50 freestyle at 27.31, the 100 breaststroke in a clocking of 1:16.55, and was a member of both winning relay teams.
“This was a fun meet. We had some good swims with good times turned in today,” coach Erika Miller said.
Spencer Livermore rounded out the individual winners capturing the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:07.19 and was on both relay teams.
The Wildcats’ next home meet is Thursday, Jan. 10, against Cascade.
