Register for swim school

Registration for swim school lessons began at noon, Friday, Feb. 27, at John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool.

All classes meet Tuesday and Thursday for four weeks, and there are still openings.

Classes offered include: parent/child, pre-school, school age, pre-competitive and adult.

Last tryouts this weekend

North Whidbey Little League is hosting its second set of spring tryouts this weekend.

Today, Saturday, Feb. 28., 9 and 10-year-old baseball players should be at Windjammer Park at 9 a.m. and 11 and 12-year-olds should report to the park at noon.

Softball players ages 7 and 8 should come to Volunteer Park at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 10 to 12- year-olds at 2 p.m. and 13 to 16-year-olds should report at 3 p.m. If you have not registered for the season, you will have the opportunity on Saturday and Sunday.

T-ball and minor-A registrations will be accepted at any of these times.

There are still lots of openings.

Soccer meeting March 17

Central Whidbey Soccer Club is having their annual general meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Windemere, 5 South Main St., in Coupeville.

The club invites the general public to attend the meeting, share ideas, and/or join the volunteers of CWSC.

Right now, the club needs volunteers ranging from an equipment manager, coaches, members at large and board members.

Babe Ruth tryouts begin March 7

Oak Harbor Babe Ruth Baseball will conduct tryouts for 12, 13 and 14-year-old players from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, at the Oak Harbor High School baseball field.

No preregistration is required.

The Skagit Valley Babe Ruth League is a competitive, traveling youth baseball program for Island, Skagit and Whatcom counties.

Safe boating class begins in March

The Deception Pass Sail and Power Squadron hosts a six-session boating course from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Wednesday beginning March 2.

Classes will be held in Hayes Hall, room 112, at Skagit Valley College in Oak Harbor.

Cost is $25 per student and includes books. Spouses or family members who use the same set of books are charged $13.
