Having not done well in a tough 300, Watterson finished third in her 500, and obtained an overall fourth. Audrey Neeley, 12, earned a fourth-place medal by finishing fourth in both the 300 and 700 events. Jerry Cruz, 15, had two competitors and was outgunned in the final laps of both the 500- and 1000-meter events. Cruz placed third overall, his first medal in his four-year skating career.Christina Bigelow, 16, raced the Sophomore Ladies division. She ran away from the pack in the 500 to finish first. A disputed no-call by the official on the last lap of the race found Bigelow in second at the finish line, and tied for overall points. She placed second overall.
